Optimism wallet guide

How should an Optimism wallet handle Layer 2 transfers?

It should keep OP Mainnet explicit from receive address to final confirmation. NordBalticum shows Optimism as a distinct supported network, uses ETH for gas and lets you authorize transactions without handing custody of the wallet to the software provider.

  • OP Mainnet context
  • ETH pays network fees
  • Self-custody authorization
01

Network name stays visible

Optimism is not merged with Ethereum mainnet or another chain that uses the same address format.

02

Fee balance is chain-specific

ETH for gas must be available on Optimism to move assets there.

03

Recipient support is decisive

Only use a deposit route that explicitly accepts the asset on OP Mainnet.

The address does not choose the network for you

EVM-compatible chains can share an address format, so the selected network is essential routing information. Funds sent on Optimism stay on Optimism unless a supported bridge or transfer route moves them elsewhere.

When using an exchange, read the full deposit or withdrawal network label. A token symbol and address match are not enough on their own.

Understand what the wallet can verify

NordBalticum can preserve your selected network and present the destination, amount and fee for review. It cannot guarantee a token contract, third-party bridge or recipient policy.

After broadcast, use the network transaction reference to confirm status independently. Interface timing and blockchain finality are not always identical.

Optimism with the route kept explicit

A clear OP Mainnet context helps separate familiar addresses from the network where value actually moves.

Practical flow

What to do next

  1. 1

    Choose Optimism

Select OP Mainnet before copying an address or preparing a send.

  2. 2

    Verify asset support

Match the asset and network against the receiving service's instructions.

  3. 3

    Keep ETH for gas

Review the fee and authorize only after the final details match your intent.

Security, in plain English

Controls with defined responsibilities

Separate chain context

Optimism actions remain distinguishable from Ethereum and other EVM networks.

Layered access controls

Device authorization, wallet confirmation and optional MFA serve separate purposes.

No silent broadcast

The protected transaction flow requires the user's authorization.

Clear answers

Frequently asked

What asset pays Optimism transaction fees?

Transactions on OP Mainnet normally use ETH held on that network for gas.

Can I use the same address on Optimism and Ethereum?

The EVM address may match, but balances and transactions remain on separate networks.

Does NordBalticum guarantee bridge availability?

No. Bridges are separate protocols or services whose availability, fees and risks can change.
